The Hillside Church Food Pantry, also known at The Culbreth Road Food Pantry is a ministry dedicated to sharing food and fellowship within our community. Open since 2019, the pantry has become a vital resource for local families. Last year alone, we provided 106,870 meals to our food-insecure neighbors.
Open on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 11:00 a.m. until noon, on the church’s lower level, our pantry distributes groceries to families in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and beyond.
In addition to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, and our retail grocery partner, we rely on the generosity of our congregation and community to keep our shelves stocked with dry and canned goods, fresh produce, bread, and meat. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m., or placed anytime in the collection bin outside the church entryway on the upper level.
Most-needed items include peanut butter, pasta, rice dinners, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, tuna, chicken, soup, beans, and household staples like toilet paper.
Volunteers are always welcome—help us receive food donations on Thursdays, pack bags on Fridays, or serve during our Saturday drive-through distributions. To sign up, please use our Community Sign Up Genius Form, or contact Candy or Diane with any questions.
Together, we can make a lasting difference—one meal, one neighbor at a time.
